STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The City of Stevens Point has opened the Plover River Crossing trail.
The crossing was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, according to a release from the city. “This achievement reflects the strong support of the Stevens Point community, the dedication of numerous project partners, and the leadership provided by the Friends of the Plover River Crossing and the project team throughout planning and construction,” officials said.
The project connects the east and west sides of Stevens Point over the Plover River, and marks one of the largest trail projects in recent memory. Pedestrians are welcome to use it starting today, though users should be aware of continued work at the site. Crews will be installing features like benches, signs, and other furnishings over the next few days.
A ceremonial ribbon-cutting for the project will be held Saturday, August 22nd at 10:45 AM in Peters Family Park.
