ST. LOUIS, MO (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3 in Game 1 of Tuesday’s doubleheader, thanks to another outstanding performance by their ace, Jacob Misiorowski.
Misiorowski, who earned his tenth win of the season, struggled to begin the game, allowing a two-run home run to Jordan Walker in the first inning, but recovered fast, striking out 11 and walking only one batter over the next six innings. Aaron Ashby and Abner Uribe relieved Misiorowski, allowing just two hits, two strikeouts, and no runs.
Christian Yelich led Milwaukee’s offense on the day, finishing 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while third baseman Joey Ortiz had three hits and an RBI.
For Game 2, the Brewers will start Robert Gasser, while St. Louis will go with Hunter Dobbins. Luis Lara, the Brewers’ fourth-ranked prospect and newly called-up outfielder, is slated to make his major league debut tonight.
