WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Many local swimming pools are opening up this weekend, with some already open.
WAOW-TV spoke with Woodson YMCA Aquatic Director Ben Wisniewski, who detailed ways you and your kids can stay extra safe in the pool this summer. “We do ask that parents and guardians actively supervise their kids, stay close to them, and insure they are following all the rules that are listed,” said Wisniewski.
Saturday June 6, the Weston and Rothschild aquatic centers will open, as well as Memorial Park and Schulenburg pools. Kaiser pool will be opening June 15.
“Be mindful of the color of swimsuit that you purchase. Darker colors are much harder to see in the surface of the water. Which plays an important role in identifying someone who may need assistance in the water,” said Wisniewski.
Witter Park Aquatic Center in Wisconsin Rapids opened June 5. Donald Copps pool in Stevens Point also opened on June 5.
Medford plans to open their pool on June 9, with pools in Marshfield and Antigo already open.
