MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers landed their third portal transfer in the last week as former Missouri guard John Tonje committed to Wisconsin as a sixth-year senior.
According to Badgers 247 Evan Flood, After starting his career at Colorado State, Tonje played for the Rams for four seasons before finishing the season with the Tigers. Tonje only made eight appearances for Mizzou in 2023, including four starts, due to a foot injury, and averaged just 2.6 points per game.
Nonetheless, Tonje shot 47.3 percent from the floor, including 38.9 percent from 3-point range, and finished his career at Colorado State with 14.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game which was second-highest on the team. His career high came against Wyoming when scored 25 points for the Rams and totaled seven 20+ point games in 2022.
Along with former Central Arkansas guard Camren Hunter and former Northern Illinois forward Xavier Amos, Tonje is the third off-season transfer portal addition for head coach Greg Gard and the Badgers.
