PASADENA, CA (WSAU) UCLA improved to 7-0 behind back-up quarterback Ty Dieffenbach, 17-7.
Dieffenbach completed 22 of 33 passes for 264 yards. Starting QB Nico Iamaleava injured his leg last week at Oregon.
The Badgers, trailing 10-0, got within 3 points on Colton Joseph’s 3-yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter. But he was only 6-of-16 passing for 66-yards. The Badgers were 1-for-6 on third down.
“There’s no way we can go on the road and have as many penalties and play as undisciplined as we did,” Badgers coach Luke Fickell said. “We didn’t have the consistency to do the little things well and it showed up.” The Badgers were flagged 10 times for 100 yards.
Wisconsin returns home next Saturday for a 6:30pm kickoff against USC.
