STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Portage County Sheriff Mike Lucas has announced new safety measures at the Courthouse, including single-access entry and exit points beginning November 9th.
Guests will enter the Courthouse through the east side, along Church Street. Before entering, all guests will pass through a security screening, including a handheld magnetometer, if necessary.
All other exits will be reserved for emergency purposes, and alarms will sound if they are opened.
Lucas says to make your visit smooth, only bring essential items and plan a few extra minutes to clear the security checkpoint. “Please make sure to bring essential items only into the courthouse [after November 9th]. Once you have completed your business in the Courthouse, exit the same door on the East side of the building/Main entrance. If you try to exit any other door, an alarm will sound.
“Please be patient and plan for little extra time to enter the courthouse,” added Lucas.
