WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of killing Jacob Socha in 2025 will go to trial in January.
Dustin Stinson is accused of shooting Socha at their home in the Lazy Acres Mobile Home Park one year ago. Socha was hospitalized on September 14th and died a few days later, and Stinson was immediately named as a person of interest in the case.
A few weeks later, he was charged with multiple felonies, including intentional homicide. He also faces charges for obstructing an officer, tampering with a GPS monitoring device, criminal property damage, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On Friday, a judge scheduled a one-week trial beginning January 25th, 2027. A motion hearing will be held on October 19th. The 35-year-old faces a mandatory life sentence if found guilty on the homicide count alone.
