Jessica Meis
STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WAOW-WSAU) — A Plover woman accused of poisoning her ex-husband with eye drops has pleaded not guilty.
Jessica Meis, 37, appeared in court this afternoon to enter the plea. She faces one count of aggravated battery intending great bodily harm and two counts of placing foreign objects in edibles.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim told police on July 20 that he believed Meis had been poisoning him by putting something in his drinks. The man set up a hidden camera in his kitchen and captured video of Meis putting something in his drink.
Meis initially told investigators she put saline in his drinks to help him hydrate, the complaint states. She later admitted it was to make him sick so she could take care of him.
A judge found probable cause during a preliminary hearing earlier Monday and bound Meis over for trial. She remains in jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
A pre-trial conference scheduled for Nov. 16, 2027.
