WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – With students back in school, First Student bus drivers are reminding motorists to slow down and stay alert for increased traffic.
First Student will run about 53 bus routes each morning and afternoon this school year.
With traffic and ongoing construction, drivers say it’s important to be extra careful and watch for stopping buses and crossing students. “Watch out for buses that are slowing down and stopping. If the red lights are flashing, stop signs are out, that means we need to be stopping to be sure that our students can cross the street in a safe manner,” said Dennis Garton, location manager for First Student Inc.
Drivers are also reminded to give buses plenty of space, stay alert and look out for students crossing the road.
