MADISON, WI (WSAU) – Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Colton Joseph has a chance to do something that no other Badgers quarterback has done before.
According to a post on X from the team, Joseph, who transferred to Wisconsin from Old Dominion earlier this year, has been named to the 2026 Manning Award Watch List, which contains the top 40 quarterbacks in the nation.
Last season, Joseph threw for more than 2600 yards, 21 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions and was one of the top quarterbacks to enter the transfer portal after being named the 2025 Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year.
One unnamed Big Ten coach spoke to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg about Joseph choosing to join the Badgers, saying, “We knew he could clearly run, but I thought against us, man; he threw some really nice balls and did a hell of a job making the right decisions. I will not be surprised to see him have a good year in the Big Ten.”
Many speculated that the coach who made those comments was none other than Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti, who faced Joseph last season and struggled to stop him on the ground after he ran the ball 10 times for 179 yards and two touchdowns against the would-be national champion Hoosiers.
