MERRILL, WI (WAOW-WSAU) — Authorities in Lincoln County have made an arrest in connection with a hit-and-run on Sunday.
WAOW TV reports that 28-year-old Brandon Karlen is facing a felony count for hit-and-run causing serious injury. He appeared in Lincoln County court on Friday and was released on a $10,000 signature bond.
Charges stem from a report of an injured man along County Road K near Merrill. According to the man, he had been hit by a large vehicle but couldn’t recall many details, saying he had “little recollection” of what happened.
Officers recovered some evidence from the scene but didn’t get any help from a nearby FLOCK camera, which had been vandalized.
The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries. No update on his condition has been provided.
Terms of Karlen’s bond include a full no-contact order with the victim and absolute sobriety from drugs and alcohol. Additionally, he will face strict driving restrictions and will be unable to operate a vehicle from dusk till dawn.
Charges against him include up to 10 years in prison plus extended supervision and a $50,000 fine. Further court action is scheduled for September 14th.
