Kyle Elkins
STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A former employee at the Plover Pizza Hut is scheduled to be sentenced for sexual assault charges in Portage County.
Kyle Elkins is scheduled to be sentenced after pleading no contest to second-degree sexual assault by use of force and sexual assault of a child by someone who works with children. In exchange for the plea, five additional felony counts were dismissed but read into the record, including strangulation or suffocation and three charges for third-degree sexual assault.
Elkins is accused of forcing himself on the girl multiple times. In one case, pulling a gun and threatening to fire her if she didn’t engage. The victim was 17 years old at the time of the incident.
The 30-year-old faces up to 40 years in prison on the most serious charge for second-degree sexual assault. The lesser charge for sexual assault by someone who works with children could add six years to that sentence.
Today’s hearing is scheduled for 1:30 PM. Court records show a presentence investigation was filed earlier this week. A victim impact statement and at least one letter supporting Elkins were also filed.
