Milwaukee Brewers
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers’ bats were on fire on Saturday night, but the bullpen couldn’t keep the Phillies offense at bay, and the Brewers lost 9-8 in the second game of their home stand.
Milwaukee saw a good effort from starting pitcher Shane Drohan, who has quietly been one of the Brewers’ most consistent starters this season, despite surrendering four runs in five innings pitched on Saturday, boosting his ERA to a modest 3.59. However, Chad Patrick struggled after replacing Drohan, giving up four runs and five hits in one inning.
Jackson Chourio went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and two home runs for the Brewers, who have lost three of their last four games after a four-game winning streak. Garrett Mitchell added a two-run homer in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough as Philadelphia racked up 17 hits, including catcher J.T. Realmuto’s three-run blast, which led to the Phillies scoring five times in the sixth.
This month, Chourio has been Milwaukee’s offensive leader, batting .367 with a 1.112 OPS, four home runs, and 13 RBI. Meanwhile, Phillies star and MVP favorite Kyle Schwarber has a .333 batting average, two home runs, and three RBIs through ten games in June.
On Sunday, fans will be treated to a pitching showdown as superstar Cristopher Sánchez (8-2, 1.54 ERA) starts for Philadelphia against fellow Cy Young candidate Kyle Harrison (7-1, 2.72) at 1:10 PM CST on WSAU.
