MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – As trade rumors continue to surround the Milwaukee Bucks this offseason, Giannis Antetokounmpo is hoping that his time in Milwaukee won’t be coming to an end anytime soon.
In a newly released interview with the YouTube channel School of Hard Knocks, Antetokounmpo spoke about his future, saying, “In 2013, I got drafted. I came here to Milwaukee. I’ve been here for 13 years with the team, and hopefully many more.”
Antetokounmpo’s comments come after ESPN’s Shams Charania claimed earlier this month that the Bucks “are open for business on trade calls and offers” for the former MVP and other key players on the roster, including Bobby Portis and Kyle Kuzma.
These comments come only two months after Antetokounmpo told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that Milwaukee is his home, saying, “This is what I want. I want to be here. I want to be with my team. I want to win here again. This is my home. I’ve spent more years [that I can remember] here than in Greece. It’s my home. I want to help the community with my wife and my brothers.”
According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, while the Oklahoma City Thunder are unlikely to make a serious offer for Giannis, it’s not “out of the possibility” as the team has several tradeable top picks, including the 12th and 17th overall picks in the 2026 NBA Draft, and stars like Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams that would be appealing to Milwaukee.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have also discussed a possible trade for the former MVP. Still, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the team’s front office is unwilling to include 24-year-old center Evan Mobley in the deal, making the trade difficult to complete because the Bucks want to acquire young star talent in exchange for Antetokounmpo, and Cleveland is one of the league’s oldest teams.
To date, NBA insiders believe Antetokounmpo will either stay with the Bucks for the upcoming season or be dealt to the Miami Heat, his preferred destination.
