GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – As former Browns star Myles Garrett prepares to fly to Los Angeles to join the Rams, the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals are discussing a second blockbuster trade, which could be completed as soon as this evening.
According to NFL Insider Sean Wright, the Packers and Cardinals are in talks about trading Pro Bowl EDGE rusher Josh Sweat to Green Bay, with the main sticking point being the draft pick Green Bay would send to Arizona and how much of Sweat’s remaining contract the Packers are willing to absorb.
Sweat signed a four-year, $76.4 million contract with the Cardinals last March, and he is owed $16.4 million in 2026 and another $47 million over the next two seasons. Starting tomorrow, Green Bay will have $26.3 million in cap space as both Nate Hobbs’ and Brandon McManus’ money will be off the books.
Sweat, 29, a fourth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018, is coming off a productive 2025 season in which he recorded 12 sacks and four forced fumbles in 17 games.
Sweat would be reunited with former Cardinals head coach and current Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, and Green Bay would gain a productive veteran pass rusher opposite Micah Parsons after trading Rashan Gary to Dallas and losing Kingsley Enagbare to the Jets earlier this year.
