GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — If you made the trek east on Highway 29 to see Luke Combs last weekend, you were by no means alone.
The Green Bay Packers have announced that Combs’ “My Kind of Saturday Night” tour set a new Lambeau Field attendance record, with 51,981 fans attending the Saturday show. Another 40,559 took in the Friday night show, bringing attendance for the weekend to 92,540.
Concerts at Lambeau have been few and far between, as Combs’ show marks the first musical act at the football stadium in five years. Other artists who have played Lambeau include Paul McCartney and Kenny Chesney.
Concerts and other summer events could become more regular as the team looks to diversify its revenue streams around the usual ten preseason and regular-season games that come with the NFL schedule. The stadium has hosted one international soccer friendly between German powerhouse Bayern Munich and England’s Manchester City, which brought more than 78,000 people to the venue. Wisconsin and Notre Dame will kick off the college football season at the hallowed grounds on September 6th.
