Jeremy Campbell
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A 42-year-old Wausau man has pleaded no contest to one count of possession of child pornography as part of a plea deal.
Jeremy Campbell entered a plea to one felony count on Friday. In exchange, two additional counts were dismissed but read into the record. A judge then sentenced him to three years in prison and four years on extended supervision.
Campbell was caught using Snapchat to share photos that had been flagged as possible child porn, prompting an investigation from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. That led to the discovery of suspicious activity between Campbell and a child’s account.
When police confronted him, he admitted to sending and receiving explicit images. He was arrested in the spring of 2024 and released on a $10,000 signature bond.
He previously pled not guilty to the charges and was scheduled for trial on at least two occasions. He had been facing up to 75 years in prison on all three charges.
Conditions of his sentence include a 15-year stay on the state’s sex offender registry and treatment/counseling as deemed necessary. He was given credit for two days served in jail following his arrest and before signing his bond.
