TOWN OF McMILLAN, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Fire crews shut down part of Highway 97 on Thursday morning due to a natural gas leak, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office.
The closure is in place in both directions between County Road C and Kraus Street in the Town of McMillan. Crews working in the area ruptured a natural gas line, causing the evacuation of all homes within a one-mile radius.
A notification from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the incident occurred at about 10:30 AM. The scene was cleared by about 3:20 PM
