STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Flooding on the Wisconsin River has closed a portion of the Green Circle Trail and Iverson Park in Stevens Point.
City Leaders say the West Side Loop of the Green Circle Trail is closed to all traffic due to flooding. Additionally, Iverson Park has been closed to vehicle and foot traffic as of 3:00 PM on Wednesday, and will remain closed until further notice.
City leaders also closed a portion of West River Drive from West McDonald Drive to County Road HH in anticipation of additional rainfall.
Water levels at the McDill dam are about six inches above normal, but the structure is holding.
Emergency managers are monitoring the situation, activating a Partial Emergency Operations Center.
City leaders have also announced free wood chips for residents at the Yard Waste Site from branches collected following the recent ice storm. Those are available for pickup at 100 6th Avenue during regular hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Residents will need to provide their own buckets or bags for haulaway.
