Chelsie Lehmann
STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A Portage County woman will serve prison time for child neglect after her daughter went missing last fall, leading to a brief AMBER Alert.
Chelsie Lehmann will serve two years in prison with credit for 212 days already served in jail. That will be followed by 3.5 years of extended supervision. Charges stem from a September search for her daughter, who went missing from outside her home.
Officials issued an AMBER Alert for the girl. She was found four days later in rural Portage County with Jordan Coyle, who is now facing child sex charges from the incident after DNA evidence suggested recent sexual contact between the two.
Additionally, officials note that Coyle was living with the girl and Lehmann despite a prior conviction for sexual assault of a child.
Lehmann had been facing additional counts for aiding a felon and encouraging a parole or probation violation from the incident. Those charges were dismissed, but read into the record, as part of the deal.
The 32-year-old will also pay court costs and complete mental health assessments.
Coyle has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault of a child and interference with child custody. He is due back in court on July 17th.
