STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A martial arts instructor from Portage County has pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child and child pornography charges.
Stephen Manasreh Decker, 46, initially faced 76 charges in two separate cases, but he reached a plea deal where most of those charges were dismissed as part of a plea bargain.
On Friday Decker pleaded guilty to four counts of possession of child pornography. He also pleaded “no contest” to one count each of sexual assault of a child by a person who works or volunteers with children and second-degree sexual assault.
Court records show the district attorney plans to recommend sentencing Decker to 10 years of initial confinement in one case and 15 years in the other. It remains uncertain if these sentences will be served concurrently or consecutively.
Decker’s address is listed in Amherst. He founded Five Rings Martial Arts in Stevens Point in 2013 and taught there for more than a decade. Before that, websites show he taught martial arts in Wausau and Port Edwards.
His bond has been revoked. A presentence investigation is due by March 20, and the sentencing hearing is set for April 1.
