Paul Vang
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A high-speed chase north of Wausau has led to multiple drug-related charges against a 35-year-old Fox Valley man.
Police say Paul Vang was clocked for speeding near Rib Mountain last week, but took off northbound as officers were approaching his vehicle. A chase ensued, with speeds topping out at 110 MPH. Officers were able to bring his vehicle to a stop north of Wausau, using spike strips and a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuver.
A K9 officer alerted its handlers to the presence of drugs, and a search of the chase route turned up more than 300 grams of methamphetamine in a baggie along the side of the road. Officers also suspect he swallowed some meth right before he was taken into custody, leading to a detour to a local hospital for treatment before he was jailed.
Court records show Vang, known to some as Kenji Vang or XX Kenji, is now facing felony possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver and fleeing or eluding an officer. He also faces misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He’s also facing a first-offense OWI, which is a forfeiture in Wisconsin.
He is being held on a $25,000 cash bond and will return to court on January 23rd.
