STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The Stevens Point Fire Department issued an order to vacate the University Inn on Thursday.
All occupants, guests, and staff at the property were ordered to leave by 4:00 PM due to “the identification of unsafe conditions that present hazards to life safety,” according to a news release. Officials didn’t specify what unsafe conditions were present.
“The Stevens Point Fire Department emphasizes that this action is being taken in the interest of life safety. Orders of this nature are not issued lightly and are necessary when conditions pose an unacceptable risk to occupants,” the release added.
Further updates will be provided once corrective action is taken and re-inspection is underway.
The Legacy restaurant will remain open. Officials noted that it is up to code and no safety concerns are present at this time.
