MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — One day after Marathon County closed several snowmobile trails, Lincoln County is doing the same.
Trails in Zones 2, 3, and 4 have closed effective immediately, according to a news release from the County Forestry, Land, and Parks Department. Trails in Zone 1 will remain open for the next four days, scheduled to close at 5:00 AM on January 12th. However, riders are advised that the trails are closed when temperatures exceed 28 degrees.
Trails across Central Wisconsin are in early-season condition.
Marathon County closed trails in three zones on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the remainder of the trails (Zones 1, 2, and 3) were also closed, although the county’s website notes that snowmobile clubs will monitor the trails and attempt to reopen them this weekend.
Forecasters are calling for rain and warmer temperatures for the rest of the week.
