PLOVER, WI (WSAU-WAOW ) – The old Younkers building in Plover is about to see some big changes. A new YMCA location is set to open in Plover, utilizing the former retail building. The Stevens Point Area YMCA is making the addition through a new partnership with Lokre Development Company.
Ryan Zietlow, president and CEO of the Stevens Point Area YMCA, expressed enthusiasm for the project. “We are absolutely energized to bring the YMCA’s mission and services directly to Plover,” Zietlow said.
The Village of Plover Administrator Steve Kunst is also excited about the YMCA’s arrival. “The YMCA is an incredible community partner, and the Village is ecstatic to welcome them to the former Younkers site,” Kunst said.
Representatives from Lokre Development Company shared in the excitement. “Partnering with the YMCA on this new Plover location is something we’re truly proud of,” they said.
Expected to open in early 2026, the new Plover YMCA will feature amenities such as indoor pickleball courts, a wellness center, and 24/7 access.
To mark the occasion, the YMCA is offering Charter Memberships, which include special recognition, early event access, and free use of the Stevens Point Area YMCA until the Plover facility opens.
