MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers made a qualifying offer to pitcher Brandon Woodruff on Thursday. The offer is reportedly one year at $22 million.
Woodruff has until November 18th to make a decision. If he accepts he would return to the only team he’s been with in his professional career. If he rejects the offer he becomes a free agent and the Brewers would get drft pick compensation if he signs elsewhere.
The offer is a good one as some experts see free agent offers for him to be in the two-year, $25 million range.
The 32 year old Woodruff returned this past season from a shoulder injury and made 12 starts with a 3.20 ERA before a lat strain sidelined him for the playoffs. He’s expected to be at full health when spring training commences.
