MADISON, WI and MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (WSAU) — The nationally-ranked Badger hockey programs both picked up shutout wins on Friday.
The men traveled to Missouri and scored a 3-0 win over Lindenwood University, scoring once in each period. Christian Fitzgerald netted the first goal of the season midway through the first on a power play opportunity, followed by an even-strength goal from Grady Deering in the second. Ryan Botterill capitalized on an empty net in the closing seconds to close out the game.
Oliver Tulk recorded two assists.
Daniel Hauser made 22 saves, including nine in the third, to secure the win.
The women also skated in non-conference action against Maine, defeating the Black Bears 5-0. Laila Edwards scored two goals, while Lacey Eden recorded two assists.
Cassie Hall and Vivian Jungels also found the back of the net. Ava McNaughton made 25 saves to preserve the shutout.
