STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — SentryWorld will welcome another major golf championship next week.
One year after hosting the USGA Men’s Senior Open, the American Junior Golf Association brings the Rolex Junior Girls’ Championship to the famed flower hole.
LPGA Pro and Retail Merchandise Manager Katie Kreuser says the event will bring the top 70 juniors in the world to Stevens Point. “This event is just next-level. The girl who won this tournament last year, when it was hosted in Georgia, shot 11 under par over the three rounds.”
Kreuser says you can expect some NCAA Championship-level competition. Many of the girls in the field have committed to major college programs. Some have already participated in LPGA events.
“Truly, these girls are the future of women’s golf. Many will end up being on the LPGA Tour,” added Kreuser.
Among those in the field is the current WIAA Division 1 Girls Champion, McKenna Nelson of Beaver Dam. She also won the national Drive, Chip, and Put competition in 2024 at Augusta National Golf Club.
Tea times will begin at 8 AM each day, with the last golfers finishing their rounds by 3 PM. Admission is free with no tickets required. Golfers should note that SentryWorld will close to the public on Friday and will remain closed through the end of the tournament.
