Candlelight vigil in Medford, WI (WAOW)
MEDFORD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Taylor County residents gathered at Medford City Park to hold a candlelight vigil for Becky and Josh Mann.
Family, friends, neighbors, all gathered to pay their respects to the couple that was murdered just last week. Every Fire Department was also in attendance to par homage to Josh, a fellow firefighter.
Brian Welsh, the Gilman Fire Chief said, “Been reached out by many fire departments, and even here tonight it’s just incredible to see every department from the county here representing, to see the support it really shows, not only for us but for the Mann family just how incredible this is.”
Being there for one another is one of the most impactful things that a community can do. It’s one of the reasons why people there said, they want to live in these places. It’s all about the unity through tough times.
Adam Rodman, a community member and Director of the Rec Center in Medford said, “Anytime something like this happens, fortunately for us it does not happen that often or at all. So to see what has been done with the community with coming together and pulling together… There’s a reason why I live here, and why I’m raising my kids here, and proud to be a community member here.”
Bill Schreiner, the Village President of Rib Lake said, “You know there is so many connections in the whole county, Josh was from Rib Lake originally. Everybody kind of knows everybody in a way. There’s a lot of friends all over and it’s so good to get together to show our support for the family at this time.”
The event goes to show the power that a local community holds during difficult times.
