WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Central Wisconsin woman accused of starving a child has changed her plea to not guilty by mental disease or defect.
Brittany Hull entered the plea on Monday for charges of chronic child neglect and child abuse. A judge also modified the 32-year-old’s bond to allow for supervised contact with her biological children.
Other details of the bond remain the same. The 32-year-old is being held on a $1 million bond with a full no-contact order against the victim and her siblings.
Investigators say Hull and her partner, Tristian Hull, limited the girl’s food and water intake. Brittany reportedly told the girl it was part of a special diet that she had researched on her own to help with an “undiagnosed medical condition.”
Investigators report that the girl was forced to eat her meals in a different room and sometimes required help with utensils.
Tristan also faces charges of child abuse and neglect. He’s scheduled for a pretrial conference on Thursday and has yet to enter a plea on the charges.
Brittany Hull returns to court for a pretrial conference on January 22nd.
Trial dates have not been scheduled for either suspect.
