MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — On a night when they already knew the Central Division title was in the bag, the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 in a thriller at American Family Field,
Jake Bauers drove in Jackson Chourio in the bottom of the ninth inning for the walk-off win. Rhys Hoskins had a solo homer for the other Brewers run.
After giving up a solo homer to Alec Bohm in the fifth inning, Freddy Peralta and the Brewers bullpen shut down the Phillies the rest of the way. Peralta struck out nine in five innings of work. Joe Ross, Jared Koenig , Trevor Megill and Devin Williams gave up just two hits over four scoreless innings. Williams picked up the win with three strikeouts in the 9th.
Despite clinching the Central Division the Brewers still have something to play for before entering the playoffs. Milwaukee is chasing Philadelphia and the LA Dodgers for one of the two best records in the National League and the first round playoff bye that goes with it. They have 88 wins right now, LA has 89 and Philly has 91. The Brewers do not have the tiebreaker with either team.
The Brewers begin a four-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight in Milwaukee. Pre-game show is at 5:40 on WSAU
Brewers playoff tickets will become available through an online pre-sale on Friday at 8 a.m. and will go until 10 a.m., while the team will also host a prep rally outside of American Family Field starting at 6 a.m. that will include the first 5,000 fans in line getting a free Brewers car flag. The rally will also include several notable guests, including Brewers Hall of Famer Robin Yount, Packers legend Donald Driver, Bucks legend Sidney Moncrief, and Badgers legend Brian Butch.
