Wausau, WI (WSAU)- Memorial Day weekend is here as it kicks off the unofficial start to the summer season and the “Waterpark Capital of the World” is ready to celebrate by opening America’s newest and tallest waterslide.
Standing at 145 feet above the ground, “The Rise of Icarus” now reigns as the nation’s tallest waterslide. Mount Olympus Water and Theme Park opened this weekend debuting the soaring slides. It offers five different body slides ranging in height. Riders can climb to a middle platform enclosed in the tower, and have the option to go down one of four 60-foot waterslides. The slides don’t end there though.
If riders continue to venture to the top tower, they can take the plunge from the 145-foot slide titled “The Fall”.
The theme park plans to open another new attraction later this summer which consists of a children’s water play area equipped with 10 slides, water play features, and a wading pool. The children’s section is scheduled to open on July 4th.
Mount Olympus’s waterpark is open now through mid-September.
