MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WAOW-WSAU) — According to a press release from the Marshfield Police Department, a call was received Saturday afternoon reporting a man who seemed to be suffering from mental health-related issues along with sporting a firearm around his waist.
Police officers were dispatched to the area and recognized the 66-year-old Marshfield man, as someone who had recently received a warning regarding stalking of a resident within the neighborhood.
When officers approached the man, he fled the scene began running through yards, and attempted to break into the home he was warned to stay away from. After the short foot pursuit ended, the man was apprehended and arrested by officers. Police report they recovered the loaded .22 caliber revolver that the man had on him.
The man was transported to the Wood County Jail after being cleared by the medical team at Marshfield Medical Center.
He’s now facing charges of stalking with a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a firearm on school grounds, and resisting an officer.
