GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers selected Edgerrin Cooper with the 45th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after trading out of the 41st overall pick.
The Packers invited Cooper to Green Bay for an official visit earlier this month, and Cooper was believed to be a strong target for the Packers coming into the draft. Cooper earned AP All-American and First Team All-SEC honors in 2023 after a dominant season with the Aggies, which included 8 tackles, 56 stops, and 10 sacks.

According to scouts at NFL Draft Buzz, Cooper shows “elite overall athleticism—an incredible burst (1.54 10 yards) and speed combined with long arms gives him huge upside” and has “quick recognition of gap runs, often outmaneuvering linemen to the spot with his sideline-to-sideline range.” The biggest knock on him is his size, due to him being just 6-2 230 lbs, which scouts note he’ll need to add mass to get past the NFL lineman.
The Packers received three picks in the deal with the New Orleans Saints which included picks 45, 168, and 190.
