ST LOUIS, MO (WSAU) – Cardinals yesterday in game two of the series 12-5. This game for the Brewers not only tied their season high for runs, but also racked up a season-high of 18 hits.
In the first inning, Milwaukee took the lead 2-0 when Rhys Hoskins hit a 399-foot homerun after William Contreas singled. The lead though did not hold for long as the Cardinals rallied by scoring 4 runs within the 2nd inning making the game 4-2.
By the 4th inning, the Brewers were able to surge ahead on Blake Perkins’ double, and back-to-back home runs by Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio, taking back the lead 5-4.
Milwaukee would not fall behind St. Louis for the rest of the game as they made it 9-4. By the 6th inning, with Sal Frelick singling and a single hit by William Contreas, a walked Jackson Chourio was able to score. Willy Adames had an RBI Double and Hoskins followed with an RBI single. After a wild pitch, Adames was able to score making it a 5 run game.
In the 7th inning, Chourio tacked on another score after being walked, stealing second base, and scoring on a throwing error. The Brewers led 10-4 going into the 8th.
By the 9th, Milwaukee added two more runs. This came from Perkins’ single, Turang’s double, Chourio’s RBI single and a double-play ground out led by Frelick.
Milwaukee looks for their first sweep of the Cardinals since September of 2018 today. Coverage of the game begins at 12:40 on WSAU.
