MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks could be without Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) for the entire series against the Indiana Pacers, dealing a possible major blow to the team’s championship aspirations.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Antetokounmpo could miss two to four weeks because of his injury, stating, “He is doubtful to start this series. I’m told this injury could last anywhere from two to four weeks, potentially. And we know his superhuman ability. But that clearly puts his status for this series in jeopardy.”
In Milwaukee’s 104-91 victory over the Boston Celtics on April 9, Antetokounmpo sustained the injury late in the third quarter and missed the team’s last three games of the season. Head coach Doc Rivers told reporters on Thursday that he expects Damian Lillard to become a fixture of the offense in the series against the Pacers, despite Lillard also dealing with groin and adductor injuries.
Milwaukee will host Indiana in Game 1 on Sunday at 6 p.m. CST on TNT.
