EAGLE RIVER, WI (WSAU) — A Northwoods man who pled guilty to a case of domestic abuse in Vilas County will have time added to his current prison sentence.
Frank Schuman appeared in court in Eagle River on Monday where a judge sentenced him to 3.5 years in the state prison system including 18 months in custody and two years on extended supervision. He will also complete all counseling and therapy and pay more than $8300 restitution to the crime victims fund.
The 3.5-year sentence represents the maximum allowed for one count of substantial battery.

The 30-year-old was the subject of a six-month manhunt that ended in early 2023. At that time he was out on bond for “numerous offenses against women including substantial battery, false imprisonment, reckless endangering safety, and strangulation.”
Then in December 2023, he was sentenced to prison time for charges stemming from an incident in Outagamie County. State prison records show he has a mandatory release date in December 2039. Monday’s sentence will likely extend that date into 2040.
Court records show Schuman is also scheduled for a two-day jury trial in Oneida County for battery, strangulation or suffocation, and false imprisonment charges- all of which carry domestic abuse modifiers. That’s scheduled to begin on April 25th.
Schuman was an MMA fighter who went by the name “Nightmare Schuman” in the octagon.
