MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Big Ten Conference has announced the football schedule rotation from 2024 through 2028 to include the four west-coast schools that will join the league from the PAC 12 next July.
The Badgers will play at least one of each of those west-coast defectors (Oregon, Washington, USC, and UCLA) in each of those schedules starting in 2024 with a home date against Oregon and a road matchup at USC in Los Angeles.
Other league opponents for 2024 for the Badgers include Minnesota, Penn State, and Purdue (home) and Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern, and Rutgers (road). The non-conference slate will include Western Michigan, Alabama, and the University of South Dakota (FCS- Missouri Valley Conference); all at home.
Future schedules will include home dates with Washington and Ohio State in 2025. The 2026 slate includes USC at home and UCLA and Penn State on the road.
The Bruins and Nittany Lions will return to Madison in 2027, while the Badgers will visit Minnesota, Michigan State, and USC.
Oregon returns to Madison in 2028 along with Michigan. Road dates include Nebraska, Ohio State, Washington, and Iowa.
Minnesota and Iowa will stay on Wisconsin’s schedule as protected rivals each year.
The B1G Football Championship game will continue to be played on the first Saturday in December, though the conference will do away with divisions. Instead, the two teams with the highest conference win percentage during the regular season will meet for the title.
It’s unclear if the conference championship game will remain in Indianapolis or if the league will look to leverage its new west-coast footprint to include venues like Lumin Field in Seattle, SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, or Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
