WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The Wausau Transit Commission approved a plan on Thursday to upgrade the city bus equipment.
The equipment known as CAD-AVL can do a wide variety of things including automatic vehicle location to help riders know when buses will arrive and detour management.
Transit director Matthew Rosenbloom-Jones says the equipment will also help those with disabilities saying, “The system includes ADA-mandated stop announcements where the bus would essentially enunciate stops…I mean this is…the earliest systems back in the 90s would do this so it will be welcome.”
The upgrades are expected to cost $75,000 and be completed later on this year.
