WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Marathon County Judge Michael Moran has sentenced Amanda Lewis to prison time for her role in a drive-by shooting incident that took place near downtown Wausau.
The 37-year-old will serve a total of 13 years- eight in prison and five on extended supervision, for two counts of recklessly endangering safety as a party to the crime. Lewis will also be required to complete all counseling as deemed appropriate and have no contact with the victims or Maurice Bell, the man charged with shooting at them through a car window as they were walking near McIndoe and North First Street.
The incident was said to be retaliation for the near-fatal beating of a friend of Lewis’ son that had occurred two days earlier. That incident was said to be over a drug deal gone bad.
Lews was a passenger in the vehicle and did not fire the shots. No one was injured in the incident.
Moran also sentenced Lewis to shorter terms for other counts. Those will run concurrently with the 13-year sentence. She was also given credit for nearly three years already served in the Marathon County Jail.
Bell is facing two charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide in the case. He’s pled not guilty to those counts and is scheduled to go to trial on November 1st.
