MOSINEE, WI (WSAU) — For the first time since 2022, United Airlines will fly out of the Central Wisconsin Airport in Mosinee.
Airport leaders have secured three daily non-stop flights between CWA and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. “This is a significant milestone for Central Wisconsin,” said Airport Director Brian Grefe in a press release. “With the return of United Airlines, Central Wisconsin will be served by three commercial airlines, offering more choices and greater convenience for our travelers.”
The first flight will depart on May 21, 2026. Travelers can book the flights beginning today.
United discontinued service from CWA in January 2022, citing a pilot shortage. The airline recently secured additional gate space at ORD, allowing it to add daily non-stop flights to seven small to mid-size airports nationwide, including Marquette, Michigan; Rochester, Minnesota; and Eugene, Oregon.
“We’re excited to offer our customers daily nonstop flights between Central Wisconsin and Chicago,” said Mark Weithofer, United’s Managing Director of Domestic Network Planning. “This gives our customers not only greater access between the two regions, but also around the world – taking them to all the places they want to go.”
United’s return gives CWA two carriers offering flights to Chicago, alongside American Airlines. Delta will continue service to Minneapolis-St. Paul.
