Northwoods League
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Ignite dropped their regular-season finale 4-3 to Madison in a preview of the Northwoods League Softball Championship Series.
The Ignite took an early 2-0 lead with a fourth-inning RBI single from Madison Werner and a solo home run from Marley Teasley. Madison would strike back with a four-run sixth inning.
Wausau finishes the season 21-19 and will host Game One of the best-of-three championship series on Monday. Game two and, if necessary, game three will be in Madison.
On the baseball side, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids were rained out at Witter Field. Since the two teams do not have any other scheduled games against each other in the 2026 season, and there are no more available make-up dates, the game will not be made up, which means the Woodchucks and the Rafters will not meet again in the 2026 season.
Wausau wins the season series against Wisconsin Rapids, 6-5. Wausau returns home tonight to start the biggest two-game set of the season, hosting the Lakeshore Chinooks in a matchup that could determine Wausau’s postseason fate. First pitch from Athletic Park is set for 5:05 PM.
