MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers have reportedly checked in with teams to see what it may cost to acquire some of the top pitchers in the league.
According to Brewers insider Adam McCalvy, the Brewers front office has spoken with the Detroit Tigers and the San Diego Padres about the price of All-Star starting pitcher Tarik Skubal and All-Star closer Mason Miller as they prepare for another deep postseason run.
McCalvy spoke to Brewers GM Matt Arnold, who stated that his team has “been on the phone a lot” and “we’re definitely active.”
MLB insider Sean Wright confirmed this report in a post on X on Thursday, stating that league sources have informed him that the Brewers are “big game hunting” ahead of the impending August 3rd trade deadline.
The Tigers are reportedly hoping to acquire controllable starting pitchers and top young prospects in exchange for Skubal, who will become a free agent this winter. Milwaukee’s top prospects may be willing to trade in either of these trades, including infielder Jett Williams, shortstop Luis Pena, pitcher Logan Henderson, outfielder Luis Lara, and catcher Jeferson Quero.
