MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU – A new report is providing more details on which other Bucks players may be included in the pending blockbuster trade that likely would send Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami.
According to Associated Press NBA insider Tim Reynolds, the Bucks are working to include forward Bobby Portis in any deal for Antetokounmpo as the team looks to clear as much cap space as possible while going into rebuild mode, saying, “There is growing belief in some corners that the Giannis trade — if it happens, of course — will also include Bobby Portis.”
Last summer, Portis signed a three-year, $43.56 million contract extension with the Bucks, which includes a player option for the 2027–28 season. Portis declined his $13.4 million player option for the 2025-26 season to restructure the contract, but his first-year salary stays the same as the declined option.
According to NBA insiders with ClutchPoints, both the Golden State Warriors and the Charlotte Hornets have expressed interest in acquiring Portis, which could come into play if he is waived by Miami or whichever team trades for Antetokounmpo, allowing him to sign with any team he wants.
On Wednesday, NBA insider Jake Fischer stated that the Bucks have yet to ask teams for final offers because they want to see what the New York Knicks are willing to pay based on how the series plays out. The Knicks currently lead the series 2-1, with Game 4 starting tonight at 7:30 CST.
According to the latest odds on Kalshi, the Heat now have a 53% chance of acquiring Antetokounmpo, while the Bucks’ chances of keeping him have dropped to 18%.
