Milwaukee Brewers
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — William Contreras recorded four hits and finished a triple shy of the cycle in Milwaukee’s 13-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday.
The Brewers’ Catcher went 4-4 with two singles, a double, and a two-run home run. He also recorded four RBI, three runs scored, and one walk.
Brice Turang, Garrett Mitchell, and Tyler Black each recorded two hits. Sal Frelick went 1-5 with a solo home run.
All that offense backed up a strong day from Milwaukee’s bullpen after starter Brandon Woodruff recorded just four outs before leaving the game with arm issues.
Five relievers followed, with Shane Drohan picking up the bulk of the work. Grant Anderson finished the 2nd before turning the game over to Drohan, who allowed five hits and one earned run from the 3rd through the 6th.
Woodruff will undergo testing before he is scheduled to throw again. In-game reports from the Brewers indicated he wasn’t feeling pain or discomfort, though his velocity sat well below 90 MPH throughout the start. Manager Pat Murphy told reporters that the team hasn’t decided if he will go on the injured list.
Milwaukee begins a three-game series in Washington on Friday. Pregame coverage for game one begins at 5:30 on WSAU.
