WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Garfield Avenue on Tuesday.
It started at about 3:30 with a report of smoke and flames coming from a multi-family residential building. Crews were on the scene within five minutes and determined that the fire was coming from the backside of the building.
Crews managed to contain the fire to a single unit. Others in the building were briefly displaced during the response but were able to return to their homes.
No one was in the unit at the time, and there were no injuries to any firefighters. The cause remains under investigation.
