STATE COLLEGE, PA (WSAU) — Wisconsin men’s hockey built a 4-0 lead en route to a 5-2 win over Penn State to close the regular season on Friday.
Quinn Finley, Gavin Morrissey, and Blake Montgomery also found the back of the net for the Badgers. Oliver Tulk scored twice, including the final tally of the game early in the third period.
Daniel Hauser made 23 saves to preserve the win.
The game had little impact on the Big Ten Conference tournament seedings for both teams. Wisconsin locked up the #4 seed and home ice for the first round thanks to results elsewhere in the league on Thursday. While Penn State was married to the #3 seed going into the weekend.
Wisconsin will host Ohio State in the first round on Wednesday, March 11th. The winner will travel to Michigan State for a semifinal game three days later.
Other first-round games have Penn State hosting Minnesota and Notre Dame at Michigan. Those winners will meet in the other semifinal
The conference championship game will be on March 21st.
The Badger women’s hockey team will play in the WCHA championship against Ohio State this afternoon, then await their skating orders in the NCAA Women’s Hockey National Championship tournament on Sunday.
