MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Bucks could get the centerpiece of their franchise back tonight.
Sources tell ESPN’s Shams Charania that Giannis Antetokounmpo will play against the Boston Celtics this evening, the first game he’s played since mid-January when he went down with a calf injury.
Antetokounmpo is averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds, and nearly six assists per game this season.
It’ll also be the first game he’s played since the NBA Trade Deadline, which brought rumors that the Greek Freak could be sent elsewhere. Milwaukee reportedly fielded offers from teams such as the Timberwolves, Heat, and Knicks before deciding against a deal. Instead, they shipped a pair of role players to the Phoenix Suns as part of a salary dump and signed Cam Thomas, who has helped spark a recent 8-2 run from February 3rd to 25th.
Milwaukee has lost two in a row coming into Monday’s game and sits three games behind Charlotte for the 10th seed in the East. That’s the final play-in spot and requires two road wins to earn the 8th seed in the playoffs.
Pregame coverage will begin at 6 PM, with tip-off at 6:30 on WSAU.
