Brittany and Tristan Hull
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Central Wisconsin woman accused of starving a child has pleaded no contest to one count of chronic child neglect, avoiding a jury trial.
Brittany Hull entered the plea this morning, with one count of child abuse causing great bodily harm dismissed but read into the record. She was then found guilty by the court.
Investigators say the 33-year-old limited the girl’s food and water intake, telling her it was part of a special diet to help her deal with an “undiagnosed medical condition.” Doctors noted she was severely underweight to the point where her organs were beginning to fail.
The girl was also forced to eat her meals alone, and sometimes required help with her utensils due to her condition.
A presentence investigation will be conducted between now and March 20th. Sentencing was not immediately scheduled, but could be penciled in during a scheduling conference on Wednesday.
Her partner, Tristan Hull, was also charged in connection with the complaint. He pleaded guilty to one count of chronic child neglect as part of a deal and is currently serving an eight-year prison sentence.
