Logan Craft
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — An Alabama man with a violent past will be sentenced for sexual assault and strangulation in early January.
Logan Craft entered a guilty plea for charges of sexual assault by use of force and strangulation as part of a plea deal, avoiding a jury trial. The 33-year-old now faces up to 31 years in prison.
In exchange for the guilty pleas, the state dismissed six counts, including false imprisonment, intimidating a victim, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
WAOW TV reports that the charges stem from a 2023 incident in which Craft traveled from his home in Montgomery, Alabama, to Wausau to meet a woman he met online. When she turned down his sexual advances, he forced himself on her and strangled her until she lost consciousness.
Craft has a violent criminal history in Alabama, including a 2017 conviction for sexual assault of a child and strangulation. Investigators say he also gave the victim a false name.
He is being held in the Marathon County jail on a $250,000 cash bond. Sentencing has been scheduled for January 9th.
